Gianna Bullock is a passionate heptathlete, community advocate, and an academic force with big career dreams. Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, Gianna brings her roots and her diverse background —Black, Italian, and Cuban— to everything she does. Competing for the University of Oregon Ducks, she’s proven herself as an athlete who embraces both her athletic journey and her identity beyond the track.

Roots in Nashville and a Strong Foundation in Community

Gianna´s athletic path began long before Oregon. In high school, she clinched five state titles at the 2021 TSSAA Division II-AA Championships, with a standout performance in the pentathlon and individual titles in hurdles, high jump, and long jump. Her journey took her to the NSAF Outdoor Nationals at Oregon’s Hayward Field, where she competed in the heptathlon finishing seventh!

Off the track, her heart is with her community and family. Volunteering at Nashville’s Second Harvest Food Bank, she’s built connections with children in her community and shown her commitment to making a difference. Her goal? To one day help young athletes develop both on and off the field.

Gianna Bullock’s athletic journey has been marked by consistent growth and impressive achievements, both indoors and outdoors, across multiple events in track and field. Here’s a look at her progression over the years, starting with her most recent successes.

2024: Continued Growth and Personal Bests

  • Indoor Track: In February, she set a new personal best in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking an impressive 8.45 seconds. This performance solidified her position as one of the top collegiate hurdlers and demonstrated her relentless drive to improve.
  • Outdoor Track: By May, Gianna achieved another personal best in the 100-meter hurdles, running 14.03 seconds. Her continued growth across multiple heptathlon events shows her commitment to pushing her limits, as she refines her skills and strengthens her performance.

2022-2023: Steady Progress and Milestones

  • Indoor Track: Gianna became the No. 8 pentathlon performer in University of Oregon history, scoring 3,823 points at the Texas Tech Open. She wrapped up the competition with a personal best in the 800 meters, clocking 2:26.37. She also improved her 60-meter hurdles time to 8.59 seconds at the Don Kirby Invitational, further establishing herself as a competitive force.
  • Outdoor Track: Gianna’s versatility was on full display during the outdoor season. She placed seventh in the heptathlon at the Pac-12 Championships, achieving a lifetime-best score of 5,162 points. She set personal records in the 200 meters (25.38), 800 meters (2:27.98), 100-meter hurdles (14.08), and long jump (5.84m/19-2). Gianna also recorded a shot put personal best of 12.96m, further demonstrating her growth in all aspects of the heptathlon.

2021-2022: Freshman Breakthrough

  • Indoor Track: Competing in her first collegiate pentathlon at the Pac-12 Invitational, Gianna scored 3,570 points and finished 10th overall. She set season-best marks in the 60-meter hurdles (8.83) and high jump (5-4.25) during her indoor debut.
  • Outdoor Track: Gianna competed in her first collegiate heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational, scoring 5,045 points. She placed fourth among collegians in Group B and seventh overall. During this competition, she posted season bests in the long jump (5.63m/18-5.75), shot put (12.01m/39-5), and javelin (33.50m/109-11), showcasing her potential across multiple events.

Beyond her athletic accomplishments, Gianna is focused on building a future in sports management and youth training. Majoring in journalism with a focus on advertising and a minor in sports business, she’s positioning herself to influence the sports industry from multiple angles.
