Eleonora Maria Goldoni was born on 16 February 1996 in Finale Emilia, a small town in the province of Modena. As a teenager, Eleonora made a bold call. She moved to the United States to play college soccer at East Tennessee State University, far from home and everything familiar. After college, Eleonora returned to Italian football and never stood still. Her club career has taken her through Sassuolo, Napoli Femminile, Inter, and now Lazio. Four major clubs, four different dressing rooms, four fresh starts. Every move added a new layer to her game. By the time she got to Lazio, she’d already seen most of what Serie A Femminile had to offer.

The stats back up the journey. Across her Serie A Women career, Goldoni has played 97 matches, scored 19 goals, and added 5 assists. On 10 December 2023, during a Serie B match against Tavagnacco, Goldoni suffered a compound fracture of the tibial malleolus and had to leave the pitch early. She’s said she came out of those tough months “growing,” closing that chapter stronger than before. Fitting, really, for someone whose own father nicknamed her “Leoncino,” the little lion.

After recovering from injury, she came back to become Lazio’s top scorer in Serie A with four goals, helping the club secure promotion. She described the recovery as one of the most special and indescribable feelings of her career so far. Going from a broken ankle to leading the team in goals within the same campaign is the kind of comeback that defines a season, not just a stat line.

Her last national team call up had come six years earlier, and for a long time she feared that dream had quietly slipped away. On 25 October 2024, she finally returned to the pitch wearing the Azzurre shirt, coming on in the 72nd minute of a 5-0 win over Malta. Six years is a long wait for any athlete.
